The Versatile Blogger Award

Hi guys,

I hope you are all well and have had a good Monday and fingers crossed we all have an awesome week!

This post as you know by now is about ‘The Versatile Blogger Award’, I am beyond astounded to have been nominated for this by FIVE lovely girls! No way did I ever expect to be nominated once never mind five times! So I would like to give a HUGE thank you to P A E Reviews, Katie, Fiona, Carly and Laura. I highly recommend for all of you to check out their blogs as they all post such good content and are lovely people!

These awards are a great way for us bloggers to show our appreciation of each other and if I could nominate each and every one of you I would!

My 7 facts!

  1. I’m owl obsessed! I’m hoping to do a falconry course soon so maybe one day I can work alongside the beautiful creatures. My love for owls started from Harry Potter, so obviously snowy owls are my fave. I will own one sometime in my life!
  2. I have 10 piercings, all in my ears. (5 in each)
  3. I’ve dyed my hair bleach blonde, pink and brunette but now I’m back to a natural blonde colour
  4. I have a huge love for dogs! Never been allowed one but luckily my cat acts like a dog so I’m halfway there
  5. I used to want to be a vet all through primary and secondary school but the more I thought about the actual job responsibilities the more I realised it wasn’t for me. I haven’t got the emotional/mental strength to put down an animal and tell the owners without bawling my eyes out myself. I seriously admire every single vet out there cos damn that must be tough.
  6. I have a slight obsession with jewellery from pandora…very slight.
  7. I hate sloths, they creep me out.

I’m not very good at thinking of facts about myself so I’m sorry if they were boring or repetitive to my other posts.

Nomination time!

Please take a look at these blogs, each are unique and equally amazing!

🍂My October Favourites🍂

Hi guys,

Today is going to be my post on my favourite beauty and skincare products of this month. Some are new and some I’ve had for a while. It’s like a massive multi review (yay!)

So first up is….

Skincare

  • Dr Botanicals Pomegranate superfood regenerating sleeping mask – you can see a detailed review on this in my previous post Dr botanicals Pomegranate superfood sleeping mask review. It’s made my favourite this month as after just a few uses I can already see a difference (yay)
  • ‘The raspberry kiss’ hand cream by treacle moon – this hand cream is amazing! It smells heavenly and leaves my hands so smooth and soft which is exactly what you want from on a hand cream.
  • Lush ‘bubblegum’ lip scrum – this is a very popular product so I’m not going to go into detail on why I love it as I’m sure many of you know what it’s good for. But for those of you who may never of heard of this before, this is an amazing exfoliator for your lips! I use it when I do my face masks but you’re supposed to use if before putting lipsticks on.
  • Blistex Intense Moisturiser lip balm – I initially bought this to get rid of a cold sore I had however after using it a few times I found my lips were so much more moisturised. It tingles after one use and I love it!

Now onto makeup…(woop)

Makeup

These are my selection of eyeliners that I’ve been loving this month.

  • NYX epic ink liner – this eyeliner is great as it is so easy to apply and looks great on the eye.
  • NYX Jumbo eye pencil in white – this is brand new and I’ve only used it once but I love it! Can be used as a base or just as a usual eyeliner.
  • Urban decay heavy metal liquid liners in gold and pink – I’ve had these for months but they have made it into my October favourites as they are AMAZING. They are great for any eye look, especially for glam looks! I love glitter so these were made for me.

This is my NYX colour correct concealer palette, as you can see I’ve used this quite a few times and it’s great! It’s of great value as you get a wide range of colours with such good quality for such a good price. I find it easier to apply it with a cotton pud.

Here you can see my favourite foundation and concealer. I LOVE this range, so much that I’ve already restocked it (oops). I feel that this foundation is very good in terms of coverage and consistency. These I feel are the underdogs of foundation & concealer as I’ve never heard them being mentioned.

This is what I use on my eyebrows and it’s great! I’ve been using it for ages so this one pot that I wrongfully assumed would only last me a month has in fact lasted me FOUR. Mind blowing right?!

This is my mascara and I LOVE it! Since I’ve been using this I haven’t needed false lashes and that alone speaks for itself.

And OBVIOUSLY my Naked Heat Palette by Urban Decay has made it into my faves, ever since I’ve saw teaser videos of this palette even before it was released I fell instantly in love. Once it was in my possession I felt no different. It is AMAZING, definitely the most pigmented out of all the Urban Decay Naked palettes. (They’re all great though). This palette is especially good for this season, it’s RED (hello!). I’ve been waiting sooo long for a red based palette and viola here it is! (It took me 5 mins to figure out how to spell ‘viola’ lol)

This was an unusual purchase for me as I don’t usually go for bold or bright looks, but recently I’ve been loving them more and more. This is why this palette has made it into this months favourites as it’s a perfect palette to creat colourful eye looks. I’ve had so much fun playing around with it already. A full length review is coming soon….(wooooooo)

And this I’m sure needs no introduction as I’ve seen it all over Instagram and one other blogs. This palette is by the amazing Soph does nails, her YouTube videos are my favourite, I wish she’d share her talent with me 😩. I’ve used it a few times and the shades are BEAUTIFUL, so perfect for this season.

<<
is is the last of my favourites for October, it’s relatively new but been used loads as I LOVE glitter and I feel that this palette helps to complete my eye look. The only downside is that I wish it had more of a range of colours, but hey I can’t have everything! A full length review is coming soon….(wooooooo)

I know my list of favourites have been long and for that I am sorry. However this is my first ever monthly favourite posts so the future ones will be a little shorter (I hope…).

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading and hopefully you’ve seen a few products you want yourself!

What are your fave products that you’ve used or found this month?

Review: Dr Botanicals Pomegranate superfood sleeping mask

Hey guys,

Hope you’ve all had a good Monday! Today’s post is a review on Dr Botanical’s Pomegranate superfood sleeping mask.

This is the packaging that it came in which I think is adorable, but hey I’m easily amused.

this face mask is 100% vegan and cruelty free! So that’s a bonus.

This is an overnight mask, you’re supposed to apply a thin layer onto your skin and leave it to dry into your skin. You can physically see this happen as when you first apply it, it is a white creamy consistency and then within 10 minutes it fades and sinks into the skin.

It contains pomegranate extract which is a strong antioxidant and aims to smooth and brighten the skin. It also contains almond oil which is rich in fatty acids (doesn’t sound appealing but it does good!) these hydrate and nourish the skin.

I recommend to use it 3 times a week to notice a difference!

My overall opinion on this face mask is good! It hasn’t got a strong/harsh scent, easy and convenient to use (sleeping masks always appeal to the lazy part of me) and it left my skin feeling hydrated and refreshed!

Thank you so much for reading this post! I hope you all have a lovely week.

Feel free to comment your holy grail face masks!

🎃HALLOWEEN FAVOURITES🎃

Hey guys,

Today I’m going to a post on my Halloween favourites as I thought it would be quite relevant.

Halloween is my second favourite time of the year (1st is Christmas) and I love many things about it.

Here’s the list:

  • Aesthetic/decorations- I love the way Halloween looks, the pumpkins, skeletons and all the other decor. It all looks so cool and spooky 👻
  • Pumpkin spiced latte 🎃 (does this really need an explanation??)
  • The colder/wetter weather- I love any excuse to bring out my jumpers again and yes I don’t particularly like rain usually but at this time of the year it gives me the perfect excuse to stay in and watch movies
  • Halloween movies! I LOVE horrors and Halloween is the perfect time to watch them! My all time favourite Halloween movie has got to be “The Nightmare before Christmas” which is a classic, if you haven’t already watched it I definitely recommend it!
  • The costumes! I love seeing all the different Halloween costumes, whether they be simple or extravagant. One year I saw Mario & Luigi and the 118 guys (as a dress up obvs) and that made me laugh!
  • And last but not least… Makeup! I love love love seeing people’s makeup looks! Even though I’m not great at doing Halloween makeup myself seeing others do it makes me inspired. This year I’m determined to do it well

That’s my list, there are other points but those are the main ones I wanted to include.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post! I was long overdue to write a Halloween themed post so I’m glad I finally did.

Please leave a comment on your favourites of Halloween, I’d love to hear them.

Love, Jess x

P.S. I reached 200 followers on here and I wanted to say a HUGE thank you to each and every one of you! It honestly means the world to me so thank you.

Q & A!

Hey guys,

I hope everyone is well, I thought I’d do a quick Q & A post. I’d also like to just point out that on my previous post L’Oréal Pure Clay Masks Review I stated that they weren’t cruelty free as I didn’t check their updated status but I was wrong (I’m sorry!) they are in fact cruelty free now (hooray!) sorry for providing you with incorrect information.

So let’s get started!

What’s your favourite thing to write about?

This is hard because I enjoy writing about everything I’ve previously written about but if I had to pick one subject I would have to say product reviews because I know they can be helpful for others if they’re debating whether to get the product I’ve reviewed.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Job wise I’d either like to be where I am right now or working with animals. So let’s hope I don’t get fired and actually start figuring out what animal courses I want to do! Also for my lifestyle, in 5 years I hope to have moved out with Graham, have my own dog and to have been driving for a while.

Pet peeves about blogging?

I’m not sure if it counts as a pet peeve but it’s irritating trying to get good pictures for my blog as the best lighting is always when I’m at work so I really struggle to get good lighting for my pictures.

Who inspires you to blog?

It’s hard to narrow it down to just one person as I feel like everyone I’ve spoken to since starting my blog helps to inspire me each and every day.

One product you regret buying?

Most products that I’ve bought I’ve loved so this is hard! If I was to choose one it would have to be the Rimmel duo contour and highlight stick, the reason for this is that it’s cream based but doesn’t blend well on my skin and also because it’s not cruelty free and was mostly an impulse buy to be part of a 3 for 2 deal. (Oops)

Does blogging ever interfere with your daily life?

Sometimes yes, but not in a negative way. For example, before I started blogging I’d come home from work and have a nap or watch Netflix but now I don’t do those things as much, as I now come home and either plan, take pictures for it and write blog posts! It’s more beneficial and creative so I think of it as a positive!

What inspired you to start blogging?

I’ve always had a love for makeup and beauty so initially that was the thing that inspired me the most! I also used to love reading other people’s blogs and thought why not?

Would you want to blog full time?

Yes and no, yes because I love blogging and sharing my experiences and opinions with you guys! But no because I love my job and would miss it if I stopped altogether.

What’s your favourite blogging moment?

My favourite blogging moment so far would be when I posted my first proper post ‘Books I’d recommend’ as I got such good feedback and I was so nervous because I really didn’t expect people to read or like it!

What would you do with your time if you didn’t blog?

If I didn’t blog I’d probably go back to my old routine of just napping and Netflix which seems very unproductive now.

If you could only read 3 books for the rest of your life what ones would you pick? And why?

That’s really hard, I can’t even narrow my favourite books into 3 books!😂 But if I had to then I’d choose Harry Potter and the philosophers stone, let it snow and looking for Alaska all for the same reason, they were my favourite to read and easy to read too!

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this post and if you’ve got anymore questions feel free to ask them in the comments.

Review: L’Oreal pure clay masks

Hey guys,

This post is going to be another review (I know yawn! I need some new ideas). But this time I am reviewing L’Oréal’s pure clay masks! (They are not cruelty free- I’m using them up). I have three; purity mask, glow mask and detox mask. They each have different purposes as give different results.

The green one (purity mask) is supposed to get rid of any impurities in your skin, which can be caused by bacteria/pollution/etc… I have used this one twice or three times and it definitely opens up your pores! My skin always feels soft after, however it hasn’t helped my skin to get clear however that could be due to the fact I don’t use it regularly enough.

The pink/peach one (glow mask) is supposed to make your skin more ‘glowy’ and radiant, this one I have used the most as I feel it is the most exfoliating one. My skin does feel very smooth after using it but no glow.

The charcoal one (detox mask) is used to detox your face and get rid of blemishes. This one I’ve used about 5 times or so and have seen no difference to my blemishes but like the other two it leaves my skin feeling smooth and soft.

They each smell pleasant and are easy to apply to the face, on the box it says 10 uses but I definitely disagree I’d say depending on how much you apply each tub could probably last you 15 or more uses.

Do I recommend it?

Definitely no if you’re only after cruelty free products. But otherwise yes I do recommend these, at least the glow mask one, that one seems to give the best results!

I hope this post has been useful and has interested you! If you’ve used these products before and agree/disagree with me please comment to let me know your views!

Review: LUSH’s ‘Grease Lightning’ spot treatment gel

Hi guys,

This post is going to be a review on LUSH’s spot treatment gel that I purchased about a month ago.

My skin is very spot prone and it’s been near to impossible to find a spot treatment that actually does what it says on the label. Since I’ve gone cruelty free Body Shop and LUSH have been my first two favourite shops to get facial/body care products from.

I looked on LUSH’s website to see what stuff they do for spots and apart from a facial mask their ‘grease lightning’ spot treatment gel was the only other option so I thought why not.

“Strikes the spot with lightning precision. Dab on this super effective tea tree and witch Hazel gel to zap sits before they show themselves” – Description on bottle

I’ve been using the gel for just over a month and my review is a bit mixed. It has a nice scent to it and the consistency is alright (not too sticky and not too runny). However the results are confusing… on the bottle it says that it helps to prevent spots that are just about to ‘erupt’ but can also help spots that are there.

When I’ve used it before the spots come I don’t notice a difference however, when I use it on spots that have already appeared it does seem to help get rid of them a little bit. Although you have to be very careful where you apply this product! As when some of it went onto my skin (with no spot) a spot came up, I don’t know if that was completely coincidental or there was a correlation.

Everyone has different skin types, so even though it doesn’t work that well on me it could work really well on you! And at the cost of only £6.95 it won’t break your bank so why not give it a go?

If you’ve tried this and liked it or use a spot treatment that works really well, please leave a comment!
