My Valentine’s Day

Hi guys,

You probably read the title and thought I’m doing this post really late and well I guess it is, but better late than never right?

This post will be all about my Valentines with Graham. I would never of thought that I’d ever do a valentines post but here I am and here it is..

So we did two parts of it;

The first one was to an Italian restaurant (Italian is my faveee food!). The restaurant was called Piccolino and was in Virginia Water. It was my first ever time there and I enjoyed it thanks to Graham. We didn’t see any desserts that we liked so we decided to go ‘creams’ and it was such a nice ending to a lovely night.

Part two was my favourite part of all for obvious reasons.. and if you follow me on instagram or snapchat you’ll know why.

Graham booked a mini break to Hythe in Kent, it was a one night stay at a lovely hotel. So day 1 of the weekend was fun because I love long drives, as I’m not driving I get full control of the music which of course Graham is blessed with. (He’s probably shaking his head reading this right now, ha). When we got there we unpacked and headed straight for the beach, because why the hell not??

The weather was lovely and the beach was literally a few footsteps away. We stayed there until sunset and that was absolutely beautiful! Who knew England could be so pretty?

It was so peaceful and calm I just wanted to stay in that moment forever but that’s not possible so as time went on of course food would be the first thing on my mind. There not being many places open we settled for Nandos which I was very happy about.

We then went for a walk down the river which was so romantic and cute, I couldn’t of felt more happy (soppy af I know, soz) and then returned to the hotel. We even checked out the hotels’ bar, which was filled with a lot of older people so I did feel a bit out of place but still had a nice time. After a few drinks we went back to the room and watched Ted and Dracula Untold (goals right?😂)

Day 2

The sunday was just as good as the saturday and was very busy. We started off the day by visiting the local town for breakfast, the town was super cute; all the little shops were so aesthetically pleasing and pretty. However, as it was sunday they were all shut, we found a costa and had our brunch in there. We took a walk back through town and to the river which looked just as beautiful in the day time! I even saw an Otter like animal, it was super cute.

We then went back to the car and drove to our next destination which was…

Port Lymphe

We visited the Port Lymphe Reserve, we went on an hour long safari ride which took us to the enclosures of lots of different animals such as: cheetahs, rhinos, wild hunting dogs, camels, giraffes and many more.

Once this was finished you could walk around the rest of the reserve and see the other animals such as: lions, meerkats, monkeys and many more. A lot of these animals were snuggled in their indoor enclosures so we was unable to see them, which is understandable as it was freezing! There was a scottish wildcat there which honest to god looks so similar to domestic cats but you’d definitely pay the price if you tried to pick that one up.

This reserve is pretty impressive to be honest, Graham got me the brochure which has all the information about each animal that is in their care. Some of the animals are extinct in the wild and majority of them are at a high risk of extinction which is really sad. Their breeding program is also amazing as they release them back into the wild but also keep on eye on them to make sure they’re thriving in the wild.

I’m a huge lover of animals and zoos as you’d know if you follow me on social media so visiting this place  was a great surprise planned by Graham. I would definitely recommend for anyone to visit it if they’re nearby! (only if you’re okay with a bit of walking, my legs were aching by the end).

We had finished by 2:45pm and thought that was too early to go back home so decided to have another little adventure and Graham drove us to Dover!

We visiting the white cliffs of Dover which again was a lot of walking (my legs were not happy) but it was so worth it! When we reached the viewpoint we got such a stunning view of the cliffs, sea and France! Graham even got a text saying “Welcome to France” and my phone changed time zones to Paris times. So turns out our phones GPS’s aren’t that accurate.

We walked back and decided to head home.

It was such a lovely valentines and it’s all thanks to Graham.

Thank you for reading this post!

What did you do for Valentines?

Love, Jess x
