My daily routine of trying to stay positive

So as you may have or may not have noticed I haven’t written a blog in a long time; I’m trying to get back into it now, which I’ve been meaning to do for a while.. I’ve been so caught up doing other things and living life that I found it hard to find the time but hey ho I’m back at it now!

So this post is different to my norm and slightly out there, it’s taken a lot for me to admit it to myself and only just recently to my friends but I think it’s about time. Recent events in my life has confirmed to me that I suffer from anxiety, it’s not severe and is mostly manageable but it’s there. So with this I’ve been working on how to maintain a positive mindset which really helps.

So every morning I wake up and I read these positivity books;

• Everyday confidence

• The little book of positivity by Lucy Lane

• The little book of happiness by Lucy Lane

• Affirminator cards

I read these every morning and I feel like they help put me into the right mindset and helps me to start the day off positively.

I also read in one of the books that keeping a journal is good for keeping positive as you can reflect back to moments in your recent past and see the positive in them. I’ve started to do this and have noticed that it does help to note down how I’m feeling on specific days as then you can kind of understand your emotions more.

I’m no way an expert in this in any shape or form buy these little things have really helped me to feel more positive.

If you have any tips on how to stay positive please leave them in the comments below.

Love,

Jess

My Valentine’s Day

Hi guys,

You probably read the title and thought I’m doing this post really late and well I guess it is, but better late than never right?

This post will be all about my Valentines with Graham. I would never of thought that I’d ever do a valentines post but here I am and here it is..

So we did two parts of it;

The first one was to an Italian restaurant (Italian is my faveee food!). The restaurant was called Piccolino and was in Virginia Water. It was my first ever time there and I enjoyed it thanks to Graham. We didn’t see any desserts that we liked so we decided to go ‘creams’ and it was such a nice ending to a lovely night.

Part two was my favourite part of all for obvious reasons.. and if you follow me on instagram or snapchat you’ll know why.

Graham booked a mini break to Hythe in Kent, it was a one night stay at a lovely hotel. So day 1 of the weekend was fun because I love long drives, as I’m not driving I get full control of the music which of course Graham is blessed with. (He’s probably shaking his head reading this right now, ha). When we got there we unpacked and headed straight for the beach, because why the hell not??

The weather was lovely and the beach was literally a few footsteps away. We stayed there until sunset and that was absolutely beautiful! Who knew England could be so pretty?

4a6bb910-c928-461a-9cbb-80040db5e624

It was so peaceful and calm I just wanted to stay in that moment forever but that’s not possible so as time went on of course food would be the first thing on my mind. There not being many places open we settled for Nandos which I was very happy about.

We then went for a walk down the river which was so romantic and cute, I couldn’t of felt more happy (soppy af I know, soz) and then returned to the hotel. We even checked out the hotels’ bar, which was filled with a lot of older people so I did feel a bit out of place but still had a nice time. After a few drinks we went back to the room and watched Ted and Dracula Untold (goals right?😂)

Day 2

The sunday was just as good as the saturday and was very busy. We started off the day by visiting the local town for breakfast, the town was super cute; all the little shops were so aesthetically pleasing and pretty. However, as it was sunday they were all shut, we found a costa and had our brunch in there. We took a walk back through town and to the river which looked just as beautiful in the day time! I even saw an Otter like animal, it was super cute.

We then went back to the car and drove to our next destination which was…

Port Lymphe

We visited the Port Lymphe Reserve, we went on an hour long safari ride which took us to the enclosures of lots of different animals such as: cheetahs, rhinos, wild hunting dogs, camels, giraffes and many more.

Once this was finished you could walk around the rest of the reserve and see the other animals such as: lions, meerkats, monkeys and many more. A lot of these animals were snuggled in their indoor enclosures so we was unable to see them, which is understandable as it was freezing! There was a scottish wildcat there which honest to god looks so similar to domestic cats but you’d definitely pay the price if you tried to pick that one up.

This reserve is pretty impressive to be honest, Graham got me the brochure which has all the information about each animal that is in their care. Some of the animals are extinct in the wild and majority of them are at a high risk of extinction which is really sad. Their breeding program is also amazing as they release them back into the wild but also keep on eye on them to make sure they’re thriving in the wild.

I’m a huge lover of animals and zoos as you’d know if you follow me on social media so visiting this place  was a great surprise planned by Graham. I would definitely recommend for anyone to visit it if they’re nearby! (only if you’re okay with a bit of walking, my legs were aching by the end).

We had finished by 2:45pm and thought that was too early to go back home so decided to have another little adventure and Graham drove us to Dover!

We visiting the white cliffs of Dover which again was a lot of walking (my legs were not happy) but it was so worth it! When we reached the viewpoint we got such a stunning view of the cliffs, sea and France! Graham even got a text saying “Welcome to France” and my phone changed time zones to Paris times. So turns out our phones GPS’s aren’t that accurate.

We walked back and decided to head home.

It was such a lovely valentines and it’s all thanks to Graham.

Thank you for reading this post!

What did you do for Valentines?

My January Favourites

Hey guys,

Today’s post is going to be on my favourites from last month. Yes I know it’s a bit late as it’s nearly half way through February but let’s just pretend it’s last week😂.

I personally love these posts so thought I need to do these more often.

So let’s begin,

Favourite Makeup bits

I don’t know about you but I’m seriously loving Makeup Revolution’s makeup recently. For such low prices the quality is AMAZING and to be honest the eyeshadow palette is just as pigmented as my urban decay palettes.

Here are some more Makeup Revolution bits and my new L’Oreal eyebrow pencil. Everyone is taking about their concealer and for good reason, I LOVE it! (Review will be up soon). Their loose highlighter is also so good, I’m in love!

This is the ‘Pure Gold’ Lipstick from L’oreal which I am in complete love with, just look at it!

This is another lipstick from L’oreal that I’ve been loving. It is in shade 116 and is a shimmery nude.

Favourite Hair Products

Here are all my hair products that I’ve been loving! As I’m trying to grow my hair these really help and are so good! My hair has been feeling and looking so much better since I’ve been using them.

Favourite Netflix shows

Reign and Riverdale are both my faves at the moment. You should give both a watch if you haven’t already!

That is all for my favourites! I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s posts and maybe learnt more about what I like.

What are your favourites from January?

Love,

Jess x

Blogger Recognition Award

Good afternoon everyone! I got nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award by the lovely Erika and Hebah.  Please check out both of their blogs, they both have amazing posts that I’m sure you will love.

What is the Blogger Recognition Award?

It is made by bloggers for bloggers. It’s a way to let fellow bloggers know that you recognise and appreciate the hard work that they do.

If you accept the nomination, here are the rules:

  • Write a blog post to showcase your award
  • Thank the blogger that nominated you and provide a link to their blog
  • Give a brief story of how your blog started
  • Share two general pieces of advice for others
  • Nominate 15 other bloggers
  • Let your 15 bloggers know that you have nominated them.

So without further ado let’s get started…

How my blog started…

I’ve been blogging since September so just about 3 months approximately. I wanted to start blogging over a year ago but I was too scared and embarrassed to put myself out there. I actually wrote my first ever post on my blog last August in an Uber going to work; however, I was too scared to share it so my blog went nowhere. September this year I finally plucked up the courage to start again, this time trying not to care what negative things people had to say about it. I was pleasantly surprised to find everyone was so supportive of me, even when I first started people on twitter and people I knew in real life were so supportive of me.

The reason why I wanted to blog was that I always loved reading others blogs and watching youtube videos. It inspired me to use blogging as a platform to express my love for makeup and all things beauty.

Advice to new bloggers

  • NEVER compare yourself to other bloggers, everyone is unique and has different writing styles. Comparing yourself will only knock your confidence and stop you from fulfilling your potential as a blogger.
  • Don’t over work yourself, don’t put too much pressure to post too often. If you’re busy and can only post once a week or less than that, that’s fine! Make sure blogging doesn’t become a chore and you don’t start dreading writing the posts. It should always be fun for you so you can enjoy what you’re writing about. Happy writer = Happy reader.

Harry Potter Tag!

img_3766-1

Welcome back to my blog! I’m so excited to do this post as many of you already know that I LOVE Harry Potter!

I was nominated by the lovely Ashleigh. Thank you for tagging me  in this post! Gives me yet another excuse to talk about Harry Potter hehe.

This tag was created by Cassie, so thank you!

  1. What house are you in?

After taking the quiz on pottermore I got sorted into Hufflepuff! Hufflepuff’s most renowned members include Tonks and Cedric Diggory. It is also known as the house that has produced the fewest dark wizards of any house in Hogwarts.

  1. What is your patronus?

A dolphin

  1. What is your wand?

Maple wood with a phoenix feather core, 11 3/4 and pliant flexibility.

  1. What would your bogart be?

A giant spider.

  1. What position would you play in Quidditch?

I’d most likely be a keeper, as I’m better at defence than anything else.

  1. Would you be a pure blood, half blood or muggle born?

I took a quiz online and it turns out that I’m muggle born just like Hermoine Granger.

  1. What job would you want to have after graduating from Hogwarts?

Looking after magical creatures with Hagrid or a preschool teacher for children with magic.

  1. Which of the deathly hallows would you choose?

The invisibility cloak

  1. Favourite book?

Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone as I feel it made me feel like I was visiting hogwarts for the first time as well as Harry.

  1. Least favourite book?

Harry Potter and the Half-blood prince, for some reason it took me ages to read this book.

  1. Favourite film?

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, I loved watching all the tasks and the creatures were great! I hated the ending for obvious reasons but overall that was my favourite film.

  1. Least favourite film?

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1 purely for the deaths of Hedwig and Dobby.

  1. Favourite character?

Hagrid, I’ve always loved Hagrid throughout all the movies.

  1. Least favourite/most hated character?

Bellatrix Lestrange, one of the main reasons is for killing Sirius Black.

  1. Favourite teacher at hogwarts?

Minerva McGonagall because she has always stayed true to what she believes in and was pretty badass in the final battle.

  1. Least favourite teacher at hogwarts?

I have two; Horace Slughorn and Dolores Umbridge. I don’t like Slughorn because I could never truly trust him and its creepy how he tries to ‘collect’ his students. And Umbridge? does that really need an explanation?

  1. Do you have any unpopular opinions on the series?

There should of been a twist in Lucius Malfoy’s story and he should’ve been given a fresh start.

  1. If you could save one character from the final battle who would you save?

This is hard as I would want to save at least three! But I’d choose Fred Weasley, if you didn’t love his and Georges humour and wit then did you really watch the films or read the books?

To help you with some of the answers check out the Pottermore website here (www.pottermore.com)

The Mystery Blogger Award

The Mystery Blogger Award

Hey guys,

Earlier this month I was nominated for ‘The Mystery Blogger Award’ by the lovely CherishingFlo. If you haven’t already you should check out her blog. She posts about lifestyle tips and her personal life. I LOVE her blog, her posts are always fresh and inspiring and won’t fail to add a smile to your face! So thank you so much for nominating me!

You may be sitting there wondering what an earth this award is even about well….

The award was made by Okoto Enigma, check out her post on how and why she created it! (Original post).

What is the ‘Mystery Blogger Award’?

“Mystery Blogger Award is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion.” – Okoto Enigma

  2. I love astrology and have collected many crystals and gems over the years.
  3. My favourite colours are red and rose gold.

CherishingFlo’s questions for me:

  1. What made you start a blog?

I have always loved beauty products, especially makeup and I never knew how to express my love for it. After reading other peoples blogs on makeup and beauty, it suddenly clicked in my head that blogging is what I wanted to do.

  1. What inspires you to write your blogs?

The blogging community really inspires me, I had no clue how supportive bloggers are before I started my blog but I would 100% not be where I am today if it wasn’t for the amazing support I have received from fellow blogger who I now think of as friends.

  1. Would you ever want to blog full-time?

Yes I would love too! Not at the moment I wouldn’t as I love my job at the moment but it would definitely be something I would love to do in the future!

  1. How has blogging impacted your life?

It has made me more confident in myself, gives me a sense of purpose; rather than coming home lazing around watching Netflix I now feel motivated to write/plan blog posts (most days anyway). I have also met lots of AMAZING people from all around the world! I would never of met them if it wasn’t for starting a blog.

  1. What is your favourite past time?

I love going out with friends, seeing Graham, going shopping, reading books, going to concerts and watching movies/programmes. (Sorry couldn’t pick one)

The Versatile Blogger Award

Hi guys,

I hope you are all well and have had a good Monday and fingers crossed we all have an awesome week!

This post as you know by now is about ‘The Versatile Blogger Award’, I am beyond astounded to have been nominated for this by FIVE lovely girls! No way did I ever expect to be nominated once never mind five times! So I would like to give a HUGE thank you to P A E Reviews, Katie, Fiona, Carly and Laura. I highly recommend for all of you to check out their blogs as they all post such good content and are lovely people!

These awards are a great way for us bloggers to show our appreciation of each other and if I could nominate each and every one of you I would!

My 7 facts!

  1. I’m owl obsessed! I’m hoping to do a falconry course soon so maybe one day I can work alongside the beautiful creatures. My love for owls started from Harry Potter, so obviously snowy owls are my fave. I will own one sometime in my life!
  2. I have 10 piercings, all in my ears. (5 in each)
  3. I’ve dyed my hair bleach blonde, pink and brunette but now I’m back to a natural blonde colour
  4. I have a huge love for dogs! Never been allowed one but luckily my cat acts like a dog so I’m halfway there
  5. I used to want to be a vet all through primary and secondary school but the more I thought about the actual job responsibilities the more I realised it wasn’t for me. I haven’t got the emotional/mental strength to put down an animal and tell the owners without bawling my eyes out myself. I seriously admire every single vet out there cos damn that must be tough.
  6. I have a slight obsession with jewellery from pandora…very slight.
  7. I hate sloths, they creep me out.

I’m not very good at thinking of facts about myself so I’m sorry if they were boring or repetitive to my other posts.

Nomination time!

Please take a look at these blogs, each are unique and equally amazing!

Rules of this award

If I’ve tagged you these are the rules of accepting the award are:

  • Thank the person who nominated you and link their blog
  • Nominate 15 bloggers for the award
  • Share 7 facts about yourself

But the most important thing is to have fun and connect with others! Because after all isn’t that what blogging is all about?

Please tag me in your posts so I can read them!

Thank you so much as always for reading, have a lovely evening and enjoy the rest of your week!

Love, Jess x

P.s. who’s excited for November?? I am
