BLOGMAS – DAY 4 – Gift guide for her

Hey guys, today is day 4 of blogmas and I’m already feeling the struggle!

Today’s post is a gift guide for her, as yes it can be hard to buy for us girls but if you know her interests then I hope this post can be of help to you!

If you missed yesterday’s post check it out here it’s a gift guide for him

These gifts could be for your friend, girlfriend, sister, Mum, cousin…etc and depending on your price range some of these gifts might just be perfect! (If I’ve done a good job)

Jewellery

Most girls love a bit of bling as it helps to make the outfit look just a little bit more glam

You can get some lovely costume jewellery from accessorise, Topshop or river island (my personal top 3)

Top left | bottom left|right

If she is into more elegant jewellery and you don’t mind spend that bit more then pandora is the place! Swarozki is also good as well as h samuels but again this depends on your price range and how much you’re willing to spend on this certain person.

Pandora

(Pandora has a Disney collection so if she’s a lover of Disney then I highly recommend something from the collection!)

Makeup

If she is a lover of makeup then why not treat her to a makeup gift set!

Boots and Superdrug both sell some really good ones!

Gift sets

Sometimes it’s hard to pin point what to buy someone so if you have a vague idea on what they like then a gift set is perfect!

You can get all sorts of gift sets! Some of these are:

• Perfume

• Nail sets

• Socks

• Bath sets

• Body shop gift sets

And many more!

Boots | Superdrug | The Body Shop

Box sets

If she loves a series and is non stop watching it then why not treat her to the box set! That way she can watch it whenever she wants!

Here are some popular box sets that you could get

Lush bath bombs

Everyone should know how amazing Lushs’ Christmas range is amazing so why not treat her with a pretty bath bomb! She’s sure to love it!

Lush

Lush bath sets are a perfect idea, they’re small and sweet! Most gift sets from Lush contain one or two bath bombs and a little gel, depending on the set.

Boots & Superdrug do some lovely bath sets as well

Candles

Around Christmas time it is lovely to have candles around to help it feel festive and cosy at this time of the year. Nothing says Christmas more than a room lit up by candles and smelling like eggnog or ginger.

Yankee candles have some really lovely candles, here are some examples:

Personalised gifts

I don’t know about you but I always feel personalised gifts are just that extra bit special. There’s so many options from personalised frames to personalised notebooks! Amazon is a great place to get personalised gifts and keepsakes!

Fashion

And if none of the above ticks your boxes you can’t go wrong with a cute gloves, scarf and hat set! Perfect for this time of year too!

River Island | Accessorize

And if she’s a shopaholic or just loves to treat herself once in a while but is fussy then why not a voucher for her favourite shop!

These are all the ideas that I could come up with, I hope it was helpful to any of you who are struggling to buy presents for your friends and family.

Just a little reminder, don’t stress too much over presents, as Christmas is more about being with friends and family and making lifetime memories and that is the most important.

Thank you for reading today’s post and stay tuned for tomorrow’s post when I will be sharing my Christmas tree with you! Yay

Love, Jess x

My Skincare Routine

Hi guys,

I hope you’ve all had a good Monday and have a good rest of your week!

Today I’m doing a blog post on my current skincare routine, I say current as I’m pretty sure it’ll change within a month.

Skincare is subject to skin type so in order for you to know if these products may be of benefit to you it’s probably best I disclose my skin type… (drum roll please)… dry and sensitive mostly but in the summer it can get oily.

I would also like to apologise in advance for the quality of the photographs as the lighting was awful (ugh English weather) and I couldn’t lay the bottles flat as they wouldn’t stop rolling…

The order in which I do my skincare routine are as follows:

  1. Cleanse/wash
  2. Tone
  3. Spot cream/gel
  4. Serum
  5. Eye cream
  6. Moisturiser
  7. Oil
  8. Primer…..makeup as usual.

My morning and afternoon skincare routines are different.

In the morning I usually cleanse my face using The Body Shops’ Tea Tree Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser.

Then before I leave for work I use Dr Botanicals ‘Tropical Invigorating Cream’ duo moisturiser.

However in the afternoon after my shower/bath I will do a longer skincare routine.

First I wash my face using The Body Shops’ Tea Tree Skin Clearing FacialWash.

Then I use a cotton pad to apply The Body Shops’ Tea Tree Skin Clearing Mattifying Toner on my face and neck.

After this I apply LUSHs ‘Grease Lightning’ spot treatment gel over any blemishes I have on my face.

Check out my review here.

Then use The Body Shops’ Vitamin C Skin Reviver Instant Smoother and spread this over my T-zones. (Also works as a great primer)

Then I use The Body Shops’ Vitamin E Eye Cream, I apply this on my eyelid and underneath them.

After the eye cream has dried I then apply the Dr Botanicals ‘Tropical Invigorating Cream’ duo moisturiser again.

When that’s soaked into my skin I then apply The Body Shops’ Tea Tree Oil onto my T-zones and gently pat it down using two fingers.

That’s my skin routine almost finished!

Once/twice a week (depending on how many days I wear makeup) I exfoliate my face using The Body Shop Tea Tree Squeaky Clean Scrub.

I also use face masks 3 days a week, I normally do 2 days of day masks and one sleeping mask.

I use L’Oreal Pure Clay masks as a day mask.

I use two different sleeping masks, alternatively to how my skin is.

If my skin is feeling dry I use The dr Botanicals Pomegranate Superfood Regenerating Sleeping Mask. Check out its review here

If I have a few blemishes/spots I use The Body Shops’ Tea Tree Anti-imperfection Night Mask.

That’s a wrap!

A full review of The Body Shops’ Tea Tree range will be posted soon!

Thank you all so much for reading! I hope it’s been useful and please leave a comment what your favourite part of your skincare routine is.

Love, Jess x

🐰Why I went cruelty free🐰

Hi guys,

In this post I’m going to talk about why I went cruelty free, what I use that’s cruelty free and what brands are cruelty free.

I’ve only recently switched to cruelty free products (approx 1/2 months ago). The reason is that I LOVE animals, before when I used all types of makeup I tried not to think about the fact it’s tested on animals but still used it. I saw all the documentaries, articles and pictures about animal testing and yes it did make my stomach turn but I turned a blind eye to it.

My decision to go cruelty free came a lot later though, it wasn’t through watching videos it was just a snap decision that I made (and thank god I did). I think I was just going through my normal routine of putting on my makeup when I thought “why am I using this makeup when animals have been experimented on for it”. This is why I use cruelty free products. Why should animals be experimented on with products that humans use?! Animals are not there for our needs, they deserve to be treated with respect.

So since then I’ve been buying only cruelty free products for my makeup, skincare and hair care. Unfortunately I can not afford to replace all I have so what I did was use the old stuff up then replace it with cruelty free products.

So yes some of my makeup is not cruelty free but as soon as it’s used up then it will all be. My makeup that is not cruelty free is my:

  • Mascara
  • Contour
  • Powder

So it’s not too bad.

I use Urban Decay’s eyeshadow pallettes, I have for ages so I was very relieved to find out Urban Decay was a cruelty free brand.

This is my foundation and concealer that I use, both very good coverage and a nice consistency. Before I went cruelty free I used Rimmell London’s foundation, which was good but I prefer this one. The price difference was only £2/3.

In this picture it shows the eyebrow promade I use, eyeliner pen & pencils, glitter and glitter eyeliners (UD).

These are the highlights/illuminaters that I use. The Urban Decay one is more subtle but still shimmery.

These are all the lipstick/liquid lipsticks/lip liners that I use, I highly recommend all of them.

(I apologise for my picture quality as I’m using my phone and the lighting wasn’t too great)

In case any of you are interested in using cruelty free products here are some makeup brands that do NOT test on animals:

  • Anastasia Beverly Hills
  • BareMinerals
  • Kat Von D
  • NARS
  • Urban Decay
  • Too Faced
  • Smashbox cosmetics
  • Colour pop
  • Morphe
  • NYX
  • elf
  • Bh cosmetics
  • Pixi
  • Charlotte Tilbury
  • Eyeko
  • Tarte
  • Real Techniques

Here are some skin/body care that is cruelty free:

  • Lush
  • The Body Shop
  • Aesop
  • Kiss my face
  • Herbivore botanicals

Obviously there are loads more and you can find more out at Peta- easy ways to go Cruelty Free.

When I’m out and about I like to use an app called Bunny Free, which is basically a search engine for product brands.

Say if you’re out and want to know if a product tests on animal all you have to do is type it into this app and it’ll tell you whether it tests on animals or not.

I hope you have enjoyed or found this post useful, I’d just like to say that I in no way judge/think badly of those who don’t use cruelty free products. Every one is entitled to their own views and I respect those that use all products.

What cruelty free products do you like/use?

Love, Jess x
